Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was the American and British sitarist. She was the first person in her age group to be awarded the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is an Indian young sitar singer. She is the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London, she spent the beginning of her career bouncing between London as well as New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her debut at just thirteen years old. After that, she relocated into Encinitas CA, where she received the High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha still has a promising performing and recording careers, despite being young. She regularly performs with her dad and has performed with him for quite a number of years. She released her first solo album Anourag in the year 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. Apart from performing in all of the largest venues, she also has an extensive stage presence. Anoushka isn't just a performer. In 2002, she released the book Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that pays special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. She played an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising celebrity and her popularity will keep on growing. Anoushka was born in England however, she spent the majority of her childhood in between London as well as Delhi. Then she moved to California and went to high school there. When she was 9 She began studying music alongside her father. Her debut performance on the Sitar took place at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Her father traveled around across the world with her and she gained many opportunities. When she was still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. In recognition of being a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
